05 May Ireland/EU: IRISH MILK DELIVERIES UP 28% IN MARCH
Irish milk deliveries are estimated at 582.5m litres for March, according to latest figures from the CSO, 28.3% higher than in March last year. Comparing the March 2016 milk produce figures with those for March 2015 shows that total milk sold in Ireland for human consumption fell by 2.9% to 44.0m litres but butter production was up 35% to 20,000t.
• Latest figures from the EU Milk Market Observatory show that Irish milk production for the 12mths to February were 35.6% higher than for the same period the year before, a much biggest increase than recorded by any other member state. Other big increases were recorded by: Belgium +20.6%, Netherlands +18.5%, Romania +10.5%, Poland +10.3%, Spain +8.0%, Germany and Austria +7.8% and Denmark +7.7%.
